So this is a pretty desperate text-only post. I’ll go back later and retroactively add pictures…maybe…..I hope.
Obviously keeping up with this is hard because DUH! Twins. And as I will illuminate they keep needing more and more attention.
But at this juncture I’d like to invite ANYONE who spends time with P & M besides me to submit updates for me to post. It’d be great to have a little help. Simply Email me the post content and any pictures you want plugged in with it and I’ll put it up.
Hopefully.
Without further ado!
What’s Going On Right Now
Mercury & Phoenix are very mobile. They’ve been army crawling for months now and Phoenix has been up on her haunches for a while too. They babble. They each have a couple little teeth and they’re both eating solid foods. They brag about things and joke around. They’re hilarious.
They also tip over and bonk their heads. They poke each other’s little eyes. They squabble over toys. They find every last little dangerous feature of every corner of the house. And they help each other do these things.
PHOENIX
Phoenix is the ultimate goofball.
She’s a jolly little mischief maker with a lust for life.
LIKES: Shaking her head “No,” shrieking with delight, pulling herself up on everything, climbing on her brother, sitting on Daddy’s shoulders, Momma, toys, flipping onto her hands and knees.
DISLIKES: Being on her back, lotion time, bath time, having her face wiped, falling and hitting her head
Phoenix shakes her head “No” all the time. If you look at her and ask her a question, she’s going to shake her head at you. People think its hilarious. She seems to know it’s a response to a question. And sometimes she seems to know it means “No.” But mostly she just does it all the time.
She’ll fume. She’ll make a grumpy scrunched up “Popeye” face and start breathing heavy and then bawk at you.
She also squeals with delight when she’s happy. Which is thankfully often.
After what feels like months of refusing solid foods she just got on the bandwagon and started eating. So that’s great.
Her hair is always greasy and spiky and looks ridiculous. It’s on account of her being coated in vaseline all the time.
MERCURY
Mercury is moody little marshmallow who loves to dance.
Mercury has a straight face most of the time and he fusses a lot. But when he’s happy he’s so happy! I cherish those times.
LIKES: Music, dancing, bouncing around on the bed or the couch, riding on Daddy’s shoulders, Momma, tugging on hair, shoelaces and drawstrings, poking Phoenix in the eye, playing ball with Daddy, Clapping, Charlie Harper: Count The Birds
DISLIKES: Strangers, having his face wiped, when Phoenix pesters him too much, when toys get taken away from him, when toys are given to him, toys, getting bored, scary dreams, kisses from Daddy
Mercury has been army crawling for a long time, but it’s really more of a sideswim. Same arm and leg every time. He hasn’t gotten on his hands and knees yet. I think his head is too heavy….or something.
He can sit up though! He loves to sit up and bang toys together. He can clap and he likes to clap when he’s happy.
Before he learned to clap with his hands he would clap his feet when he was happy and it was so cute.
He has long, beautiful hair and especially compared to Phoenix he’s just so chubby and cuddly. He doesn’t always like being cuddled though. But he’s V cuddleable.
When he hears a song he likes or is familiar with he’ll dance. He bops his head up and down and wobbles his little legs.
Phoenix talks to others a lot. Mercury will talk to himself. He’s quite most of the day, but there’s always a time where he’ll go on a lengthy monologue and quite often it’s to himself. Sometimes he speaks with great passion.
He’ll also do some great dinosaur growls that scare his sister. Reminds me of Me & Christie.
I used to think “Who knows where that growling comes from.” But then the other day I dropped something on my foot and shouted in that way that I shout when I drop things. A beat after my little bellow Mercury followed up with his.
Egads!
P & M are very aware of each other now and squabble over toys, share toys, poke and prod at each other, talk to each other, fuss together and overwhelm their Dad together.
It really feels like it’s all happening so fast and I can’t keep up with them. Phoenix can almost stand up.
It’s all too much.
But they’re lovely little babies.
I’m going to try and go back and add some photos and maybe some details from the past few months.
If you’re reading this, thanks for reading.
XOXOXOXOXOXOX,
Mike
