I like RPGs. Dungeon Crawlers. Roguelikes. Roguelites. Nerd Games.
Even as I type this blog post, all I’m really thinking about is how I’m going to crank out a few runs of “Darkest Dungeon” as soon as I’m done typing this. Maybe even before.
So that’s been my approach to these days at home with the twins lately. The feeding routine is an unavoidable encounter that will eventually take place. A wondering monster. In between the feedings I have to strategize about how I spend my time. Therein lies the game.
I try to prioritize things that have to happen: dishes, laundry, whatever needs to happen.
But sometimes it’s fun to take on side quests: writing baby blog posts, design work, cooking, etc.
I do an RPG style productivity app called Habitica. It’s great. You can fight monsters with your buddies just by bangin’ out your to-do list. In the days leading up to the twins’ birth I gave my little avatar some costumes to honor their impending birthday and names to be.
I trust you can tell which is Phoenix & which is Mercury.
Probably one more feeding tonight before my Mom will graciously take over care of the twins for a bit so we can get some sleep.
I can probably get 3 or 4 runs in if I focus so…..I’m off!
